Director, Electrical Engineering
Reports to: Principal
Classification: Exempt
Type: Full Time
Location: Based in Bend, OR or Napa, CA. A nearby remote location may be considered.
Salary Range: $120,000-$140,000 Annually
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
This position is responsible for overseeing the technical standards of a specialty or area of expertise for the
Company. Additionally, the Director has an important impact on company performance by participating in business
development activities and developing and mentoring staff.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations & Quality Control:

ï‚·Develop standards that include master specifications, design guidelines, and deliverable expectations when acting as Director, Electrical Engineering.

Circulate articles of pertinent interest of current events and technologies and encourage the staff to continue to refine their craft.

Assist Project Leads in technical issues that arise on projects. Communicate and guide project teams to resolution, involving other team members and Firm Leadership when considered necessary.

Mentor and guide team members on a technical level as required.

Create an environment conducive to the achievement of high-quality, timely, and cost-effective engineering and design.

Make and/or manage department/firm technical educational presentations and programs.

Set standards in area of expertise.

Also performs the duties of a Sr. Engineer, potentially serving as a project lead, discipline lead, and engineer of record as required. May also serve as a Core Captain on the EOS Team, managing a team of technical staff.

Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality of client and business operations information.

Safely use all equipment and materials. Follow established safety procedures, use appropriate safeguards, and observe common-sense safety rules in all on-the-job activities.
Business Development:

Take an active role in the overall business development of the electrical engineering department and new business development, maintain client contact and promote potential client contacts.

For new business, discuss impacts and resources required with Core Captains and other team members.

Seek out expanded services and revenues with existing clients and on existing projects.

Collaborate with leadership on the execution of the annual marketing and business development plan.

Make direct contact with leads, prospects, clients, influencers, and others; and coordinate activities of others, making contacts, presentations, and interviews. Provide others with materials and information needed to carry out the business development activities.

Assist and/or prepare proposals from business development activities and coordinate such activities with appropriate management and project management staff.

Secure the participation and support of other firm members in business development activities and assist others in similar goals.

Participate in various networking opportunities to promote the company brand.

Look for ways to set us apart as firm differentiation from other firms to generate new business.

Assist marketing team in developing sales tools such as content for brochures, proposals, presentations, etc.

Make sales and interview presentations and select and train others in developing effective presentation techniques.

Talent Management:

ï‚·Recruit potential employees, review resumes, and interview candidates for hire (as appropriate).

Working with Firm Leadership, develop programs for staff development, continuing education, and training of personnel. Mentor junior staff for career advancement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in the office in which they are assigned.
TRAVEL
This position may require local travel (within 50 miles of home office) and occasionally requires up to 10% of travel outside of 50 miles from home office. May occasionally require overnight travel.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

ï‚·Bachelor's Degree electrical engineering or related field (as appropriate for position).

PE registration in the State of California or Oregon (or another state with the ability to obtain registration in California or Oregon).

Significant experience in MEP consulting showing skills at the Project, client, staff, and firm management level.

Ability to perform complex mathematical functions and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize in a fluid changing environment.

Must be organized, flexible, independent, and self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detail oriented.

Ability to foster a collaborative work environment and lead team efforts by promoting cooperation, commitment, and accountability within the team to achieve short- and long-range team goals in line with the Company's mission, vision, and values.

Ability to develop and maintain appropriate relationships with superiors, peers, colleagues, clients, and vendors.

Proficient written and verbal communication skills, including accurate grammar and business correspondence knowledge.
