Deschutes Brewery Fermentation Expansion

Summary

ColeBreit Engineering provided mechanical (HVAC) and plumbing engineering services for a fermentation expansion at Deschutes Brewery’s production facility in Bend, Oregon. The project integrated new fermentation and support spaces within an active brewing environment, requiring systems tailored to process demands while maintaining ongoing operations.
Scope included HVAC, ventilation and exhaust, gas, domestic water, waste systems, trench drainage, and coordination with owner-provided fermentation equipment. High-flow waste, chemical-resistant materials, and durable infrastructure were critical considerations in designing systems capable of supporting production-level brewing. Careful routing and sequencing were required to connect new utilities to existing infrastructure without interrupting brewery workflows.
Close coordination with BCA Architects and R&H Construction aligned system performance with constructability and operational continuity. The completed expansion supports increased fermentation capacity with reliable, process-aware mechanical and plumbing systems integrated into the existing facility.
