High Desert Middle School Auxiliary Gym Addition & Renovations

Summary

ColeBreit Engineering provided full mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering services for an 8,500-square-foot auxiliary gym addition and associated renovations at High Desert Middle School in Bend, Oregon. The bond-funded project expanded instructional athletic space to relieve demand on the existing main gym, requiring systems designed for a large-volume, high-occupancy environment.
MEP design addressed ventilation and comfort for a high-bay gymnasium while supporting durable plumbing infrastructure and efficient electrical and lighting solutions consistent with district standards. Coordination with Stemach Design + Architecture and Kirby Nagelhout was critical to integrate ductwork, piping, and electrical distribution within the structure without compromising clearances, maintainability, or long-term operations.
The completed addition provides a reliable, code-compliant athletic space supported by coordinated building systems intended to perform well under heavy daily use.
