BIM/CADD Technician

 

Classification: Non-Exempt                    

Reports to: Principal                

Type: Full Time

Location: Monterey, CA. A nearby remote location may be considered.

Salary Range: $24-$34 per hour

 

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

 

This position is responsible for providing CADD support, performing a wide variety of drafting or computer design tasks on client projects under the general supervision of a Project Lead, Senior staff member, or the BIM Manager, while following established standards, promoting teamwork, following client service standards, or other work procedures. 

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material from the design team to determine the best approach for completing drawings.

  • Convert limited verbal and written directions from the design team into a finished product or document.

  • Complete working drawings, design sketches, presentation drawings, shop drawings, diagrams, schedules, graphs, and other computer or drafted documents from prepared drawings (sketches, markups, redlines, etc.) accurately and on a timely basis.

  • Understand and follow the Company's standard CADD/Revit procedures for layering, etc., and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout.

  • Correctly apply technical symbols and abbreviations, and graphic standards.

  • Coordinate details and dimensions between drawing sheets.

  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area that will allow access to project information to other team members.

  • Prepare, tag, and organize final drawings for records retention following the Company's record retention policy.

  • Assist in developing standards for CADD use, including object names, line, and character styles, drawing and view names, and file names.

  • Develop and maintain department detail library, including updating each project, maintaining electronic and current hard copy (as considered necessary) to facilitate use, maintaining a naming system for drawings and views, and incorporating any revisions to masters.

  • Develop and maintain symbol and drawing libraries, including standard objects and maintain current electronic and hard copies (as considered necessary) to facilitate use.

  • Train or assist less experienced technicians and other design team members in resolving difficult production management tasks or drawing production problems.

  • Assist with general office functions such as printing, copying, and production supplies.

  • Contribute to a collaborative work environment, promote cooperation, commitment, and accountability within the team to achieve short-and long-range goals in line with the Company's mission, vision, and values.

  • Communicate clearly, actively listen and build relationships of trust both internally and externally.

  • Safely use all equipment and materials. Follow established safety procedures, use appropriate safeguards, and observe common-sense safety rules in all on-the-job activities.

  • Maintain and develop professional and technical knowledge by participating in/utilizing in-house educational training/materials and establishing and maintaining professional networks.

  • Communicate any known violation of any office policy, code, safety policy, or law immediately to leadership.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in the office in which they are assigned. 

 

TRAVEL

This position requires occasional travel (within 50 miles of home office) and rarely requires travel outside of 50 miles of home office. Introductory period may require travel for training with existing staff members.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent combination of education and CADD and/or BIM/Revit experience.

  • Must have/develop a working knowledge of drafting principles and plan set assembly.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize in a fluid changing environment.

  • Must be organized, flexible, independent, and self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detail-oriented.

  • Ability to foster a collaborative work environment and lead team efforts by promoting cooperation, commitment, and accountability within the team to achieve short- and long-range team goals in line with the Company's mission, vision, and values.

  • Ability to develop and maintain appropriate relationships with superiors, peers, colleagues, clients, and vendors.

  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills, including accurate grammar and business correspondence knowledge.

  • Proficient in MS Office and MS Excel.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • CADD technical and computer coursework preferred.
