Deschutes County Services Building Remodel

Summary

ColeBreit Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering services for the phased renovation of the 18,640-square-foot Deschutes County Services Building in downtown Bend, Oregon. The project modernized approximately 15,000 square feet of public service and administrative space within an actively occupied county facility, requiring upgrades to aging systems while maintaining uninterrupted daily operations.
Working within a legacy civic building introduced constraints tied to existing infrastructure, evolving code requirements, and limited space for new distribution. Close coordination with Deschutes County and Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company was essential to align construction activities with operational needs. Detailed phasing plans, temporary services, and carefully sequenced system transitions allowed critical mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades to be implemented without disrupting staff or public access.
Through disciplined coordination and consistent project oversight, new systems were integrated efficiently into the existing structure, minimizing field conflicts and reducing rework during construction. The result is a modernized government facility with improved system reliability and compliance, delivered within the constraints of an occupied, complex remodel.
