Gavilan College Hollister Campus
Summary
ColeBreit Engineering provided mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for a new 34,000-square-foot remote campus for Gavilan College in Hollister, California. Designed by Kasavan Architects and delivered through a design-build partnership with Blach Construction and Val’s Plumbing & Heating, the project expanded access to higher education in the region with a modern, purpose-built academic facility.
Working within a contractor-led delivery model, ColeBreit collaborated closely with both the mechanical contractor and general contractor to develop coordinated systems that aligned with project goals, budget, and construction sequencing. Mechanical and plumbing systems were designed in partnership with Val’s Plumbing & Heating, while fire protection systems were coordinated with the broader construction team to ensure seamless integration within the building.
In support of the owner’s sustainability goals, the facility was designed as an all-electric campus. Mechanical systems utilized high-efficiency heat pumps, and domestic hot water was generated through electric water heating systems, eliminating the use of natural gas entirely.
Through an integrated design-build approach, ColeBreit delivered efficient, fully coordinated MEP/FP systems tailored to the needs of a modern educational environment while supporting long-term performance and sustainability.
