Jesse Street Terrace, Midpen Housing
Summary
ColeBreit Engineering provided full HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for Jessie Street Terrace, a new 5-story supportive housing development in Santa Cruz delivering 50 apartments for individuals experiencing homelessness, including veterans. Our team engineered efficient mechanical and plumbing systems tailored to the unique needs of permanent supportive housing—prioritizing resident comfort, durability, and low operating costs.
Close coordination with the City of Santa Cruz, the Housing Authority of Santa Cruz County, and multiple community stakeholders was essential to meeting strict performance, safety, and permitting requirements. The building’s concrete and wood-frame structure includes on-site staff offices, resident support spaces, laundry facilities, community rooms, parking, and service areas. ColeBreit’s early collaboration with the design team helped streamline system routing, address site constraints, and support the project’s mission of delivering safe, high-quality affordable housing.
